Research & planning : Audience Feedback Results

The First Chart shows that Comedy and Horror are the most preferred genre styles. There for it would be good to put alot of comedy aspects in our trailer.

The second bar chart shows that the audiences prefrence for how long a teaser trailer should be is between one to two minutes which is what we plan to do for are own teaser trailer.

I also found out that 100 % out of the people that we asked thought that mixing the two genres of a dance flick and a comedy spoof is a good idea. There reasons for this is that it would attract more of the male audiences rather than the just females. Also it has only been done once so its will be quite a good idea for marketing purposes.

Research & Planning : Audience Preference

According to my results it shows that it will be mostly girls who would prefer to watch are genre of film although as its a spoof most of the boys put down that comedy was their favorite style of genre so they may watch it for the comedy aspects involved in our film.
Therefore we want are trailer to be aimed at mostly females but we would like to grabs some of the male viewers eyes also.
This is a review of step up 3D w hich shows Females mostly watch dance flicks But there is still a vast amount of males who go to watch them also.

The audience age preference is from the ages of 15-30. This is because as its shows in the chart that these are the most age groups that go watch dance flicks and also it will have a older teenage attitude to it which wont be suitable for audiences younger than 15 and the older generation probably wouldn't appreciate the humor and maybe take it offensive.

Our trailer may be educational as it could inspire teenagers who have a passion to dance that it can happen for them to. Also that even though the teenagers are all interested in hip hop and clubs they still attend school everyday so its setting an example.

Research & planning: Conventions Research

Teaser Trailer - Is a short trailer used to only give a sneak peak of a film. Used for advertising purposes. As it Teases the audience in wanting to go see more.

This is a teaser trailer from the movie Nightmare on Elm street. I chose this particular teaser trailer as I think it uses a very good amount of cinematography to show little snippets of each of the main characters beeing killed or haunted by the horror aspect which is freddie in this case of the film.I also think that as most of it is quick flashes it doesn't give away to much of the film creating tension.

Conventions used in the trailer.
.Red Bold fonts
. Mostly low key lighting
. Creepy slow music that increases in speed in time with the shots.
. Flashy Fast shots

Anouther Trailer that I looked at was Saw 3DS Teaser Trailer. As it had a good use of sound and cinematography.

Conentions of this trailer

.Creepy Narrative Voice over.
. Cinematography lots of tracking shots and birds eye view, Close ups and flashy shots.
. Mis-en-scene - Blood, scary settings where cages are used as props ect..
. Diegetic on screen screaming and crys for help makes it look more realistic as a horror.

Conventions Of the trailer for are teaser trailer for our genre should include
. Fast tracking cinematography
. Creepy Music that starts off slow then increases in speed to create tension.
. Voice over to narrate the trailer
. Mis-en-scene costumes to give it the horror look
. Red Bold Font that stands out and clearly indicates to the audience that the trailers a horror.

Research & Planning: Audience Theories

We did some research on some key audience theories that will help us in are exam.

The Hypodermic syringe model -  This is somthing from the media that has a direct and powerful effect on it audience meaning that the message that is trying to get across is directly recieved.

Cultivation Theory - Is a theory that studies the long term effect of television and how it shapes peoples attitudes after interacting with the messages and values of the television

Desensitization Theory- This is a theory that people are exposed to too much violence  and sex in the media so it no longer makes a strong and emotional impact on thrm therefor making them desensitized to violence and sex in real life

Copycat model- Is when an audience copys what they see in the media weather its in a film TV program or video game.

Uses and gratification- The Theory that we are more intelligent for the medias messages an we only use media for what we want to use it for and what messages we want to take in then the rest of the information we just discard.
